Regression Records announces its first release - “Heretical” - a various-artist compilation featuring tracks by Saire, Brälle, Christy Peixoto, Evis May, Krusher, Lithos, Megrim, Moment of Terror, Octonomy, Oscar Sanchez, Ronnie Knox, Svavillya, The Conciousness, Xoce and Yurk.

The fifteen track release introduces a squad of New York City based artists who have had releases with the Regression podcast series, as well as international artists. The tracks hit on contemporary, hard-edge sounding techno, accented by vintage synth mixes and one DNB track. This sort of definition with sparse accenting have come clarify Regressions stance as a label.

Each track holds its own as a danceable, playable DJ club banger. The meticulous detail and mastery within the productions speaks for itself - Regression holds a penchant for working with the finest artists in the underground techno community, both in New York City and beyond. Every artist involved is extremely proud to present their work to the world here as Regressions first release - Heretical.

The release opens with a dubbed out, thick hypnotic track by San Francisco based artist Saire, perfect for setting the mood on this record and dark club nights where the tracks find home. Following that is a hard hitting uptempo industrial mix from Brälle, a NYC production and DJ veteran. Continuing into the release we have a thick, distorted break-techno track from Christy Peixoto, one to get the energy high before mixing into a dark, pulsating hypnotic track from Russias Evis May, a track that will surely find its home in hard hitting DJ sets. It’s spacey, hard-toned perfected kicks and rhythms are a work of beauty. Lithos, an artist from Nevada contributes a heady, dubbed out recording, a perfect warp between the stomping kicks of the rest of the release. Octonomy, a NYC artist contributes a vintage sounding, synth laced catchy, upbeat track. Spains Oscar Sanchez, a production veteran as well, focuses his contribution on a dramatic, skittering techno groove with classic patterns. Megrim, an artist from the UK gives us a synthed out reduction with broken patterns. Colombia to Boston resident The Conciousness’s offering is a tentative draw on squirming, synth riffs placed on deep kicks. Svavillya gives us an intelligent, layered work titled Inside Out - a deep, hypnotic trip into darkness. Xoce, a Boston selector, gives us a stripped back, minimal scifi techno track with striking tones followed by an epic, stomping industrial track, the premiere from DC’s Ronnie Knox. NYC’s Yurk gives us a mood, break-techno genre blending contribution. Moment of Terror, aka Slavic Spirit, brings it back with a thick, layered industrial offering that gives us his signature high-octane style with perfected mixing from the help of Svavillya. Spains Krusher rounds out the release with a contemporary and heavy, hypnotic club banger.

Heretical is a gathering of like-minds who have refined their abilities for this showcase. The record highlights the label and this communities dedication to contemporary, interesting contributions that are both universal and attentive.
